Adaptive reuse is a core tenant of IKMA. This cape-style house renovation outside Boston is a case study of this. IKM was tasked with doubling the square footage of the existing house, without destroying the inherent nature of a classic cape house.
This included creating a true primary bedroom ensuite, increasing the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and raising the ceiling on the 2nd floor for more usable ceiling heights.
